USDA PLANT HARDINESS ZONE: 5-9?

SOIL: Ideally rich, moist, but well drained.

EXPOSURE: Grown in full sun.

GENERAL HABIT: Bulbous, herbaceous perennial
herb.
Flowering stems can reach 3m in height and
produce bulbils on the axils of the leaves. Can form
large clumps as bulbs multiply quickly. Young stems
often densely pubescent.

FOLIAGE: Alternating, medium green, lanceolate
foliage. Somewhat glossy in appearance
and lightly
pubescent when young.


FLOWER: Blooms midsummer (June-July). Out to
down facing flowers have multiple petals and sepals
with filaments fused to form extra petals for the
double effect.
Flower color is a deep cantaloupe
orange w
ith large prominent black spots.  

COMMENTS:
The classic and original Tiger Lily. Thought to be
virused and recommended it be planted away from
other lilies, it is easily cultivated and propagates
readily. This is a rare, double-flowered form
discovered in Japan.
