SOIL: Ideally rich, moist, but well drained.

EXPOSURE: Grown in full sun.

GENERAL HABIT:
Bulbous, herbaceous perennial herb.

omewhat stout habit with flowering stems 1.5-3ft. in
height.

FOLIAGE: Alternating, pale green, linear-lanceolate
foliage
. Somewhat glossy in appearance.

FLOWER: Blooms quite late in the summer (August-
September)
. Down-facing, strongly recurved tepals and
petals. Flower color is a deep cantaloupe orange with
green or sometimes black nectaries with prominently
raised papillae.  Very gently scented.


COMMENTS:
Fairly new species to cultivation and commonly confused
and identified as the more common L. henryi. One of the
latest lily species to flower, this was imported from China
several years ago (L-01) and has proven itself to be a
tough, hardy and reliable species for the garden.
