Lilium 'Scheherazade' (Orienpet Hybrid)
Liliaceae


ORIGIN: Garden Origin. Bred by L. Freimann using
tetraploid forms of a cultivar called 'Thunderbolt' and a
tetraploid form of the famous 'Black Beauty' bred by
Leslie Woodriff.


USDA PLANT HARDINESS ZONE: 3-8

SOIL:
Moderately Moist/Well Drained

EXPOSURE: Full Sun - Part Shade

GENERAL HABIT: Hardy bulb. Mature stems reach
5
-7ft. in height.

FOLIAGE: Wide, deep green, glabrous foliage that can
have an attractive fall yellow color prior to going
dormant for the winter.


FLOWER: July-August bloom with secondary and
tertiary buds
. Out to slightly down-facing "turk's cap"
flowers of
golden beige with deep crimson centers.
Cold weather tends to bring out more gold, while full
sun and heat beaches the color of the gold edges.
Gently
fragrant.


COMMENTS:
Absolutely hardy and one of the most dependable and
vigorous of the "Orienpet" hybrids. Healthy specimens
in deep, rich, well-drained soils can tower 8ft. in height
with about 40 flowers!
