SOIL:
Moist, well drained.
EXPOSURE:
Full Sun
GENERAL HABIT:
Bulbous perennial. Clump forming with strap-like
foliage that reaches 2.5' high and 3' wide. Flowering
inflorescence emerge from the center and can reach 3'
high.
FOLIAGE:
Strap-like deep purple foliage that emerges upright and
tends to flop once mature. Full sun brings out a deeper
purple color.
FLOWER:
Striking flowering spikes appear as small purple
pineapples in August and mature through September
with pink/purple flowers that require support once they
open and mature.
COMMENTS:
Similar in form and habit to E. 'Sparkling Burgundy', but
slightly larger. Stunning as a specimen plant or as a
group planting that looks great underplanted with Sedum
'Angelina' or Filipendula ulmaria 'Aurea'. Late to
emerge (mid June), but grows quickly once up.
