EXPOSURE: Filtered Light to Part Shade

GENERAL HABIT: Slowly spreading herbaceous
evergreen perennial emerging from woody rhizomes.
Plant grows to 15-18” high x 20-25” wide.

FOLIAGE: Glabrous, trifoliate, medium green mature
foliage with slightly undulating edges. New spring
growth is a dull green with a red blush. Previous year's
foliage is a glabrous medium green that ages to deep
purple with prominent green veination during the winter.

FLOWER: Main flush takes place in very early spring
(around late February and March here in the Pacific
Northwest). Flowers are a very intense yellow color
held up on 8-12" stems.

COMMENTS:
One of the toughest species for dry shade and year-round
appeal with the most attractive winter foliage, which
should be cut back prior to the development of new
growth and flower buds in the winter.
