Spring Mudan Festival
Dan Jing Shan
The tree peony, or MUDAN, is often referred to as the
national flower of China. It is commonly depicted in
lavish brush paintings as a symbol of longevity, loyalty,
and eternal beauty. Each spring, these prized flowers are
forced into bloom for the Chinese New Year and later in
the season, can be found in parks and gardens where
families will often spend the day admiring the large,
colorful flowers. Luoyang in Heze, NE China is the tree
peony capital of the world boasting the greatest diversity
of tree peonies anywhere! In Sichuan, however,  the
variety is somewhat limited, but the show and natural
setting used to display these remarkable plants and
flowers make it a sight not to be missed.
