Beesia deltophylla
Ranunculaceae
ORIGIN: China
USDA PLANT HARDINESS ZONE: 6-9
SOIL: Moist, Rich, Well Drained.
EXPOSURE: Filtered Light to Deep Shade
GENERAL HABIT: Herbaceous evergreen perennial.
Plant grows to 10-15” high x 25” wide.
FOLIAGE: Glabrous, deep green, chordate leaves.
Slightly undulating and serrated at the edges. Prominent
veins give the glossy foliage unrivalled form and texture.
Foliage takes on purple and red tones during cold winter
months.
FLOWER: Sprays of small white blooms appear in early
summer and stand about 20" above the foliage.
COMMENTS:
Rare and often hard to find, Beesia is an outstanding
foliage plant for the moist shade garden. It looks fabulous
as a mass planting or as a single specimen. Relatively
pest and disease free (you might have to fight off slugs
early in the season, but the foliage gets quite tough as they
mature).
