Arisaema candidissimum
Araceae
ORIGIN: China (Yunnan and Sichuan Province)
USDA PLANT HARDINESS ZONE: 6-9?
SOIL: Moderately Moist/Well Drained
EXPOSURE: Part Shade - can tolerate full sun.
GENERAL HABIT: Herbaceous perennial emerging
from a tuber. Plant grows to 15” high x 24” wide.
FOLIAGE: Glaucous, three-lobed foliage
FLOWER: Late June-Early July. Common form is pale
pink with white stripes. Rare pure white form with pale
green stripes also exists.
COMMENTS:
The most elegant and beautiful of the Chinese species.
Very late to emerge (usually in the month of June here in
the Pacific Northwest), the foliage will often emerge
with the inflorescence rapidly after it emerges. Has
thrived in fairly dry shade with minimal irrigation, but
large, lush clumps are achieved in moister, richer soils
with exceptional drainage. Will set bulblets freely. These
will typically flower when you have a tuber that is about
1.5" in diameter and larger.
